The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time takes place during 1990's in a small town called Swindson, England. The story follows a young boy and his thoughts for a couple of weeks as he struggles through a major event in his life. We see Christopher travel his house and he tells us how he likes things to be in order and in their proper place. For the beginning of the novel, Chris talks about his daily routines and what streets he takes, the things that he does while walking to school, and eventually getting to school and pulling through the day. When he starts to take this new animal murder seriously, he decides to investigate. Chris will then go from house to house on his street and ask his neighbours for any information that they might have. After discovering a terrible secret, he decides to travel from Swindon to London to hopefully find a new life.

I really do enjoy the fact that this book is placed in the 1900s in England I find it gives the story a neat little twist.

Why do you think it takes place in the 1900's? That is a strange perception?
ReplyDeleteIndicate why the setting gives the story a neat twist - in what way? :) Ms. Morton
Well I figured with phones, cars, and credit cards that it would be some time during the modern era.
DeleteThe fact that this book is placed in the 1900s gives it a neat little twist because, you don't hear about any electronics or emails. You just hear about old fashion letters which personally I find really interesting. I know in real life I love getting a letter in the mail.

Do you think it was a good thing that Christopher discovered the truth? If so then why?
