Daniel's Jounal

Just finished chapter 83 on the first day of reading this book. Love it! Also when I say 83 I really do mean chapter 83 but that's one of the cool unique things about this novel. The writer has written this book as a journal and he says he bases his chapters off of prime numbers (eg. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19 etc...) so each chapter looks like a random number. Pretty neat. So far I can say that this book manages to interest me a lot. It's different, exciting and new but the character is what really makes this story for now. He's very weird and antisocial but he's also incredibly smart and spontaneous. So Christopher just found a murdered dog and by observing it made him look like the killer. Caught in some little trouble with the police he is now dedicated in finding the true murderer of the dog to: redeem himself, to tell Mrs. Shears the truth, and just to pass his time and do something fun. He figures he can start with who knows Mrs. Shears, who would be able to kill the dog and why they would. Chris decides to investigate his whole street but purposely avoids certain people that make him uncomfortable like his"drug addict" neighbours. I guess this is where this novel turns into a mystery novel but in a very unique way. I've also realized that Christopher might have some sort of disability and he might also be aware of it. No matter because his cleverness, braveness and intelligence completely brushes that away and makes me forget that he's got any sort of issue. I love Chris' attitude and opinions towards things, I enjoy the way the novel is a mystery/journal hybrid novel and I think all the pages ahead will be amazing. A very good read so far.

I guess you could say I'm at the middle of the book. This novel has kept me so captivated, it's hard to put down! So far it looks like Christopher is going very deep within the secrets of the murder and, perhaps, too deep. His father can't emphasize more on how he shouldn't be looking into this case and the more times he brings it up the more upset he gets. Of course, this is a very curious incident in which Christopher needs to feed his own curiosity. In a desperate attempt at finally solving this dark mystery, his father snaps and tries to destroy all observations and  writings that Chris had and they have one of the biggest fights they've ever had. This isn't a failure for him, though. Just an obstacle that he's willing to get over. The mystery continues!

  1. Hi Daniel! I liked Christopher's preoccupation with numbers as well. I loved the "what door should I pick/" analysis based on a formula which gives you the best odds. Did you like that? Ms. Morton

    1. I loved it! I think it makes the character (Chris) extremely interesting and reminds me a lot of Sherlock and Doctor Who. Two extremely amazing fictional characters and Christopher is so similar to them.
